Chapter 6 - E.M.

Elena did not send email.

Daniel verified account created with copy of her driver’s license.

Identity theft.

Whoever controlled it deliberately wanted trail pointing to Elena.

Then they found another E.M.

Evelyn Morgan.

Diane’s older sister.

Elena’s aunt.

Evelyn died six years earlier.

Could account predate death?

Yes.

Created nine years earlier.

Evelyn had been accountant.

She helped manage Arthur Bell’s estate.

Now another suspect.

Records showed Evelyn discovered Diane’s first withdrawal and reported it to Arthur.

Diane had hated her since.

So why would Evelyn later help drain Elena trust?

Maybe she didn't.

Daniel found email context.

“We lose everything” referred not stolen money.

It referred lawsuit.

Evelyn had discovered Bell Meridian Holdings was using trust assets improperly.

She and Michael were building case.

E.M. was ally.

Another misdirection.

Then timer archive might contain their evidence.

Why Diane biometric?

Because Michael needed proof Diane voluntarily acknowledged documents.

Her fingerprint unlocked a recorded deposition.

Daniel found companion agreement.

Three years before Michael died, Diane signed confidential restitution arrangement.

She admitted:

She took $180,000.

She later authorized Stephen to leverage assets.

She received $400,000 from Stephen over years.

In exchange for full disclosure, Michael agreed not expose publicly if she repaid and stayed away from Elena’s trust.

Diane violated.

After Michael died, she stopped payments.

Then Elena’s crash created opportunity.

Disabled daughter.

Two babies.

House.

Diane inserted herself as caregiver.

She began telling relatives Elena was incapable of managing finances.

Daniel found messages.

Maybe I need conservatorship.

Elena went cold.

That was financial betrayal.

Not merely lazy grandmother.

Diane had been laying groundwork to regain control.

Then why treat twins so badly?

Because they complicated plan.

If Elena were deemed incapacitated, custody and trust protections would prioritize children.

Diane resented them as barriers.

Leo wasn't just “not her problem.”

He was beneficiary standing between Diane and money.

Still, Daniel warned:

Intent to seek conservatorship isn't proof she wanted children harmed.

Then Maya’s pediatric bag yielded something.

A folded business card Diane had slipped inside.

Attorney specializing in guardianship petitions.

Handwritten:

After Elena signs medical incapacity form, file immediately.

Elena stared at signature beneath note.

Not Diane.

Stephen Vale.

The old boyfriend was back.

And he had been inside Elena’s house.
