Chapter 6 - The Unwanted Title

Jack stood frozen on the grass, his eyes practically bulging out of his head as his mind completely refused to accept what he was looking at. He looked down at the knee-high alien machine, then at the smoking crater around it, and then back at the robot's cheerful turquoise eyes.
"NOPE. NOPE. NOPE!" Jack shouted in sheer panic.
He spun on his heel and took off sprinting back toward the safety of the river, his wet clothes flapping loudly against his legs as he ran for his life.
The little silver robot stood in the crater, watching him flee with wide, curious eyes. It tilted its head to the left, lifted its tiny hand again, and let out a soft, inquiring whistle.
