Whitmore mansion had not always been purely residence.
During 1950s, Victor’s grandfather donated east wing to private convalescent program for women and children.

So Anna’s Whitmore identity was never disputed.
Inheritance pathway was.
Victor realized Anna had discovered Catherine might possess some legal claim arising from Ward 2.
If unresolved, Lily could inherit rights or liabilities nobody understood.
