Chapter 15 - What Ethan Really Promised Vanessa
The truth about the hotel night was finally reconstructed without Vanessa’s edited version, Ethan’s omissions, or everyone else’s assumptions.
Claire had not lied about Sophie’s paternity.
There was no evidence of an affair.
There was no secret donor conception.
There was no hidden father waiting to claim Sophie.
A new independent DNA test, conducted under court-supervised chain of custody after Claire and Ethan both agreed, established:
Claire was Sophie’s biological mother.
Ethan was Sophie’s biological father.

The fake prenatal report had never been real evidence.

Ethan’s eyes filled.
“Yes.”
Claire whispered:

He nodded.
He did not ask her to.

Claire stared.

Ethan looked at daughter.
“G.B.?”
Gabriel Bennett.

Claire typed:

Ethan shook head.
“I didn't know Gabriel existed.”
Another message:

Claire slowly looked around.
