Chapter 15 - The Man Eleanor Already Knew About
The man Lily described was Adrian Cole.
Claire’s former fiancé.
He was not Grace’s father.

Claire had not slept with Adrian during marriage.

Ethan turned page.

CHARLES BENNETT.
Relationship:
NONE.
Then handwritten note from Charles:
IF ETHAN EVER OPENS THIS, TELL HIM B-17 HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HIS PATERNITY, HIS MOTHER, OR HIS CHILDREN.
Ethan read twice.
So no retcon.
No secret father twist.
Next line:
IT CONCERNS WHAT HAPPENED AT RED HAVEN IN 1996.
Eleanor stared.
“What is Red Haven?”
Ethan looked at her.
“You don’t know?”
“No.”
That frightened him more.

Eleanor whispered:
“Charles never told me any of this.”
For first time, Ethan believed her immediately.
Claire held Grace closer.
Lily looked at adults.
“Is that another secret?”

“Yes.”
“About the baby?”
“No.”
“About Mommy?”

“About me?”

Ethan looked at brass key.

The mystery of Claire’s pregnancy was over.
