Chapter 5 - The Cold Encounter

Emma pulled back slightly, her hands gently framing Noah’s tear-streaked face before leaning down to press a tender kiss onto Lily’s forehead, then onto Noah’s wet cheek.
"You tried to save her, sweetheart," Emma whispered, her voice full of maternal warmth despite the adrenaline still racing through her veins.
Lily nestled close against her mother’s chest, her whimpers slowly settling into quiet sniffs as she held tightly onto her brother's hand. But the moment of emotional comfort was abruptly broken by the sharp click of a car door opening. Damon, the driver of the red Lotus, stepped out onto the asphalt. He was a handsome man in his late thirties, wearing a black designer shirt and dark sunglasses that completely hid his eyes. His sharp jawline was set in a scowl of pure irritation as he looked down at the mother and children huddled on the grass.
