Chapter 12 - The Turning Tide

The board members, realizing that Damon was entirely bankrupt and stripped of power, did not hesitate. One by one, they began gathering their papers, standing up from the table, and walking out of the boardroom without saying a word to their former CEO. Within five minutes, only Emma and Damon remained in the massive room overlooking the city skyline.
Damon sank back into his chair, his head held in his hands. "You planned this. You set me up."
"I didn't plan for you to drive recklessly through a quiet neighborhood, Damon," Emma said coldly. "You revealed your own character. I simply reacted to it."

She picked up her handbag from the table and turned toward the exit. But as she reached the door, Damon looked up, a dark, desperate glint returning to his eyes.
"You think you've won, don't you?" Damon sneered, his voice raspy. "You think taking my company brings your husband back? You have no idea why he died, do you?"
