Chapter 11 - The Ticking Clock

"You can't do that," Damon stammered, his confident facade completely shattering under the weight of her words. "The board hasn't approved a transfer of debt!"

"The board doesn't need to approve it when your loan covenants are in default," Emma said, stepping closer to him. "You signed an agreement stating that any criminal investigation involving reckless endangerment or fraud would trigger an immediate recall of your credit lines. And as it turns out, the city police department was very interested in the street camera footage from my neighborhood yesterday."

Damon swallowed hard, his eyes darting toward the security guards standing near the entrance of the boardroom. For the first time, he realized that he wasn't in control of the room—or his own destiny.

"What do you want, Emma?" Damon whispered, his voice losing every trace of its former arrogance.

"I want what was stolen from my family," Emma said softly. "Starting with the full resignation of your entire board, effective immediately."
