Chapter 8 - The Unraveling

Claire’s head snapped toward Emma, her eyes flashing with pure hatred. “Shut up! You’re a thief and a liar! You’ve been skimming from the household accounts for months, everybody knows it!”
“Is that why you tried to throw her out before she could open her mouth?” Victoria stepped around the head of the table, keeping Leo firmly behind her chair. She moved toward Claire with the slow, deliberate stride of a predator. “Emma has worked for my family for three years. She has never once lied to me. But you... you’ve been pressing my husband for a seat on the board of Sterling Enterprises for the last six months.”
Claire’s face went completely pale. “This has nothing to do with the company!”

“Doesn’t it?” Victoria stopped just two feet away from Claire, her tall frame towering over the younger woman. “If anything happens to Leo, the family trust defaults to the secondary heirs—which includes the investment firm your father runs. Did you think I wouldn’t know how the trust deed was written?”
The guests began whispering frantically among themselves. The drama was no longer a domestic dispute; it had transformed into a high-stakes corporate sabotage involving millions of dollars in family assets.
