Chapter 15 - The Unspoken Shadow

Victoria closed the folder slowly, her face turning as cold and unyielding as the white marble floor beneath her feet. The immediate threat of the evening had passed, but a far deeper, more treacherous game had just opened up before her.
She looked at Emma, who was watching her closely, sensing the sudden shift in her employer's energy.
“Emma,” Victoria said, her voice dropping into a dangerous, icy whisper. “Tomorrow morning, I want you to go to my husband’s private vault in the east wing. There is a locked metal box hidden behind the safe.”
Emma stepped closer, her eyes sharp and focused. “What am I looking for, Mrs. Sterling?”
Victoria looked down at the report in her hands, her fingers tightening on the leather cover until the seams strained.

“The original birth certificates from five years ago,” Victoria whispered, her blue eyes flashing with a dark, terrifying resolve. “Because if Claire was trying to hide Leo’s DNA... then the boy sitting in my lap might not be the only child born that night.”
She stood up, holding Leo close as she walked toward the grand staircase, leaving the quiet hall behind. But as she reached the first step, a faint sound echoed from the dark balcony above—the quiet, deliberate click of a cell phone ending a call.
