Marcus Hill wasn't Anna Mercer.
He was not secretly a woman or hidden relative.
The name on page was:
Marcus Hale.
Rachel Hale’s son.
Rebecca’s nephew.
That stunned Rebecca.

Margaret thought request odd but complied.
Emma discovered fake Lily certificate.
Followed trail.
Marcus panicked.

Marcus had considered destroying her files but never acted before death.

Marcus began manipulating them against each other.

He exploited Emma’s necklace.
He arranged camera outages through access inherited from Jonathan.
He wanted Claire framed as unstable abuser so anything she revealed about fake certificate would be dismissed.
But did Marcus instruct Claire to force Lily to eat?
“No.”
His package told Claire prepare pudding and ask Lily where “Mommy” hid second piece.
He expected clue ritual.
Claire chose aggression when Lily resisted.
Again individual culpability.
Marcus planted B-14 and capsule during phone distraction.

Marcus’s face changed.
“What?”
Rebecca whispered:
“The black token.”
Marcus asked for lawyer.
For first time since confession, he looked truly frightened.
