Chapter 12 - Zurich

Three hours later, the private jet was cruising at thirty thousand feet, the dark Atlantic Ocean stretching out beneath them as they flew toward a secure safe house in Zurich.
Inside the quiet, luxurious cabin, Leo slept peacefully in a small, secure bassinet, untouched by the violence of their escape. Emma sat in the leather seat opposite Ethan, her tired eyes reflecting the cabin’s soft interior lighting as she watched the baby’s chest rise and fall.
Ethan sat at the small conference table, his black suit jacket discarded, his sleeves rolled up to his forearms as he reviewed the documents Victoria had left behind.
“The accounts are registered under a private holding company called Vance Global Solutions,” Ethan said, his voice low and dangerous. “Marcus has been routing the funds through a series of offshore banks in Zurich. It’s a systemic, calculated liquidation.”
He looked up at Emma, his deep eyes softening slightly as he noted the exhausted, pale look on her face. He reached into his pocket, pulling out the gold locket and placing it on the table between them.

“You risked your life to stay in that house,” he said quietly. “Why? You could have just taken the necklace and run.”
Emma looked at the locket, a small, sad smile touching her lips. “Because Victoria wasn't just my employer, Mr. Vance,” she whispered, her voice cracking with emotion. “She was the only person who ever saw me as more than just a servant. I promised her I would protect her son, no matter what.”
