Chapter 10 - The East Gate

The utility tunnels were dark, smelled of old concrete and damp earth, but they offered a direct route to the service garages on the eastern edge of the property.
They emerged into the dimly lit, expansive garage just as a black, armored SUV pulled up to the service entrance. The driver—Ethan’s most trusted private security officer, a man who answered only to him—stepped out, his hand resting on his holster as he scan the shadows.
“Get in,” Ethan commanded, guiding Emma and Leo into the reinforced rear seat.
As he slid in beside her, his satellite phone buzzed in his pocket. It was an alert from the estate’s primary security network, indicating that Marcus had just ordered a full lockdown of the grounds, citing an "unidentified security breach" in the main house.
The heavy garage doors began to slide downward, their gears groaning as they attempted to trap the SUV inside.

“Punch it!” Ethan roared to the driver.
The SUV’s engine screamed as the driver slammed the accelerator, the heavily armored vehicle lurching forward and clearing the descending steel barrier with inches to spare, the tires tearing up the rain-slicked driveway as they sped toward the east gate.
