Samuel Ward was found at hospital.
He had been injured in a minor vehicle collision the previous night.
Not fleeing.
Not attacked.
He voluntarily spoke.
Richard hired him after threatening letters.
Samuel installed temporary sensors in hidden corridors.
He discovered multiple family members using them.
Ethan.
Vanessa.
Catherine.
Charles.
Emma.
He initially concluded mansion culture itself was security problem.
Then he found someone entering through exterior service hatch.
Unknown woman.
She accessed Michael Grant estate box.
Samuel confronted her.
She ran.
He recovered purse.
Identification:
Laura Grant.
Michael’s sister.
Emma stared.
Michael had told her he had no siblings.
Another family lie.
Laura Grant was fifty-one.
Former probate clerk.
Alive.
Living in Maryland.
She admitted entering mansion.
Why?
Michael had sent her copy of guardianship letter before death.
After he died, she learned family-office digital copy differed.
She suspected Bennetts altered it.
She began anonymously warning Richard.
Why not simply identify herself?
Michael and Laura had been estranged for twelve years.
He had asked her not contact Emma unless guardianship documents were challenged.
Laura believed appearing suddenly would look like attempt to claim Lily.
She chose surveillance instead.
Bad choice.
But she had no legal guardianship priority herself.
No financial gain.
Then why threaten:
THE WOMAN IN THIS HOUSE IS NOT SAFE WHILE GRANT FILE REMAINS HERE?
Laura denied wording meant physical danger.
“The woman” = Emma.
She believed forged documents could be used to portray Emma as unstable and remove decision-making over Lily.
“Not safe” legally, not physically.
Ambiguous language caused panic.
Then Samuel admitted he had moved Emma.
Once.
Day 9.
He found her unconscious in basement records room.
“Unconscious?”
“Yes.”
He thought medical emergency.
He carried her using service lift to old staff apartment near garage and called Richard’s private physician.
But before doctor arrived, Emma woke.
She begged Samuel not tell Richard.
She believed someone had drugged her.
Samuel wanted hospital.
Emma refused.
Then Samuel made serious mistake.
He agreed keep hiding her.
Why?
She showed wedding ring.
Inside? No. The ring itself as proof? She said if she disappeared again, give ring to Lily? Let's tie.
Emma told Samuel:
“If I lose consciousness again, put this somewhere Lily can find it.”
Samuel refused involve child.
Emma kept ring.
Then next morning Samuel returned.
Emma gone.
Door locked.
He called her phone.
Text:
I’M SAFE.
Again.
He assumed she left.
Who had access to staff apartment?
Samuel.
Richard.
Housekeeping supervisor Anna? We have no Anna.
Old key set.
Then Samuel’s DNA in dumbwaiter explained.
He was silver-watch man? He wore leather watch, no.
Then toxicology of juice residue was refined.
Doxylamine concentration extremely low.
Could come from cross-contamination? More likely someone dissolved one tablet.
Emma likely ingested sedative.
Who purchased same lot?
Pharmacy records couldn't trace OTC lot.
But surveillance from local store showed Charles buying it.
Charles said for insomnia.
Vanessa bought different brand.
Now suspicion moved Charles again.
Then Samuel gave police security footage he had withheld to protect Richard’s privacy.
Night Emma was moved from basement.
A person entered.
Not clear face.
Formal posture.
Dark suit.
Silver watch.
Charles.
He walked into room carrying water bottle.
Twenty minutes later he pushed Emma in old transport chair toward service lift.
Emma appeared drowsy.
