Rebecca was not hidden heiress or secret mastermind.
She was seventy.
A retired social worker in Pennsylvania.
She answered immediately.
Yes, she sent Claire the declaration.
But she sent complete copy.
Not torn version.
Why?
Marianne instructed before death:
If Rachel dies before resolving custodial designation, preserve records until Ethan is old enough or until Carter family attempts to register him as beneficiary.

David recently amended estate plan to include Ethan in Carter Family Trust.
Routine parental act.
But automated public filing alert reached Rebecca.
She believed unresolved Cole maternal claim needed correction first.
So she sent document to Claire because Claire was named in Marianne’s sealed instructions as Reynolds-family contact.
Why Claire specifically?
Marianne knew Susan’s daughter worked in nonprofit compliance and considered her less entangled than Susan.
No prophecy.
No supernatural foresight.
A practical contingency.
Did Rebecca write:
THE DECLARATION PROVES ETHAN IS NOT HIS?
“No.”
That anonymous note was added later.
By whom?
Package route:
Rebecca → Thomas Vale → Carter mansion.
Thomas denied alteration.
Reception camera showed package delivered intact.
Claire opened it alone.
Then why did she believe anonymous message?
Because message came digitally five minutes after opening.
Someone knew exact delivery time.
Inside mansion?
Likely.
Claire received:
READ THE FIRST SENTENCE AGAIN.
DAVID HAS LIED ABOUT THE BOY FOR NINE YEARS.
Sender hidden.
Then:
IF ETHAN LEAVES HOUSE TONIGHT, REBECCA FILES THE CLAIM.
Claire panicked.
She tried keep Ethan inside.
But who wanted her to panic?
Michael Carter became suspect.
He knew Henry’s warnings.
He had removed second page.
He could know delivery.
Michael admitted he sent first digital message.
David stared.
“Why?”
“I wanted Claire to show you paper.”
“By telling her Ethan wasn't mine?”
“I never said that.”
Message said David lied “about the boy.”
Claire inferred paternity.
Then who sent second threat about Ethan leaving?
Not Michael.
Different routing.
Someone piggybacked.
Again layered manipulation.
Michael’s motive:
He wanted declaration surfaced because Henry had made him promise not to reveal it unless maternal claim returned.
Rebecca’s filing activated condition.
Instead of telling David directly, Michael manipulated Claire.
Cowardly.
But second sender wanted Ethan physically kept at mansion.
Why?
At 6 p.m. someone was scheduled to arrive.
Who?
Rebecca.
She had planned to meet Ethan.
Without David’s knowledge.
Why?
To hand him something Rachel left specifically for ninth birthday.
Ethan had turned nine four days earlier.
