Ethan’s father, David Carter, had died six years earlier.
His longtime business partner was Marcus Vale.

Retired.

Why would Marcus care about Ethan’s newborn?

Nothing unusual.

When Emily filed prenatal insurance documentation, system incorrectly flagged unborn Leo under:

Emily thought it was ordinary estate paperwork.

She showed Claire.
Claire thought it was prank.
Then someone entered their apartment while Ethan was away.

Emily panicked.

No secret prison.

Admitted April 18.
Fed pediatric nutrition supplement.
Improved.
Stayed nine days.

discharged.

Emily Carter.
Ethan stared.
Emily took Leo.
Alive.
Nine days after Ethan was told he had died.
Where?
Security footage showed Emily entering Haven in wheelchair.
Claire beside her.
Then leaving in private vehicle.
Infant carrier visible.
Claire began crying.
“I didn’t know that was Leo.”
“You were there.”
“They told me he was another protected infant.”
“You never looked?”
“Emily wouldn’t let me.”
