Charles Reed was not officially missing.
He resigned.
At least that was story.
Payroll showed employment ended October 15, 2009—day after mysterious footage.
No forwarding address.
No exit interview.
Final paycheck mailed and never deposited.
Ethan had been twenty-one.
He remembered Charles as quiet man who drove father to meetings.
Why would Thomas leave mansion with him and return alone?
Old foyer footage answered partly.
At 10:41 p.m., Thomas came downstairs carrying leather folder.
Charles waited by door.
Margaret followed.
She argued with Thomas.
No audio on old system.
Thomas pointed toward study.
Margaret shook head.
Charles opened door.
Thomas and Charles left.
At 1:17 a.m., Thomas returned.
Alone.
Then video jumped.
Next clip 7:04 a.m.
Margaret’s deletion.
What happened between?
Sarah claimed Daniel—her late husband—had discovered missing segment before death.
Daniel believed Margaret deleted it because Charles came back later.
Why hide?
No answer.
Sarah explained Daniel had spent years investigating family finances.
Not because Charles disappeared.
Because Thomas paid Charles $280,000 after resignation through company called Reed Consulting.
If Charles left angrily, why continue payments?
Possible severance.
Consulting.
Silence.
Eleanor knew.
She had handled Thomas’s calendar later.
She said Reed Consulting performed legitimate security risk work.
“Did you meet Charles after 2009?”
“No.”
“Then who submitted invoices?”
“Mail.”
Weak.
Maya traced corporation.
Registered to Charles Reed.
Tax filings through 2014.
Then ceased.
So Charles likely alive years after “disappearance.”
No murder assumption.
Then current camera vendor Northgate had one technician on installation:
C. Reed.
Could be Charles.
Age listed:
fifty-eight.
Charles would be sixty-three.
Possible falsified age or coincidence.
Employee had left Northgate eight months earlier.
Photo on HR file?
Unavailable due records issue? Better available.
It showed man with gray beard.
Ethan recognized eyes.
Charles.
Current camera likely installed by same former driver.
Why?
Under whose instruction?
Northgate supervisor remembered Charles personally produced trust authorization and old Thomas memo.
He said:
“Mr. Bennett’s contingency protocol.”
Nobody questioned.
How did Charles obtain memo?
Only estate archive.
Eleanor?
Samuel?
Margaret before death?
Then Sarah arrived.
She brought Daniel’s notes.
One line:
CHARLES ISN’T HIDING FROM THOMAS.
THOMAS IS HIDING HIM.
Why protect driver?
Sarah had theory.
Charles witnessed something October 14.
Thomas paid him to disappear publicly.
But tax filings under own name contradicted true disappearance.
Maybe simply kept away from Bennett family.
Then Daniel’s note:
MARGARET ERASED CAMERA BECAUSE SHE WAS IN THE CAR.
Ethan froze.
Old footage showed Margaret stayed at mansion when Thomas and Charles left.
Unless she exited elsewhere.
Garage camera archives?
None.
Could have left through kitchen.
Then Maya examined deleted old hard drive.
Partial recovery showed 2:03 a.m.
Foyer door opens.
Charles enters.
Alone.
He looks directly at camera.
Then raises hand.
Remote.
Camera rotates toward wall.
Exactly like today.
So Charles knew manual control.
Current person could be Charles.
Then at 2:07 a.m., audio from nearby alarm sensor captured woman’s voice:
“Charles, you were supposed to leave him there.”
Margaret Bennett.
