Slowly, Ethan raised the wooden cane once more, pointing the silver tip directly at the assembled crowd of billionaires, politicians, and socialites who had stood by and watched his wife bleed.

“Touch her again,” Ethan’s voice boomed through the grand hall, deep, furious, and commanding, “and none of you walks out of here!”

The absolute certainty in his tone chilled the room. No one moved. No one spoke. The wealthy guests stood paralyzed, their refined expressions replaced by sheer, primal fear as they realized the man in front of them would execute every word of his promise without hesitation.

Eleanor’s cold arrogance completely collapsed. Her jaw slackened, her eyes widening as she looked from the cane pointing at her chest to the shattered porcelain spread across her floor, and finally to her son’s icy gaze. For the first time in sixty-five years, Eleanor Carrington felt genuine terror.

Behind Ethan, safely seated on the upholstered bench, Emma held her hand protectively over her pregnant belly. Her tears had slowed, her breathing settling as she watched her husband stand between her and the monsters in this house. Ethan lowered the cane slightly, his gaze remaining fixed on his mother’s pale face, letting the silence settle like lead over the room.
