Michael crossed out DID NOT.
Beside it:
I OBSERVED V. HALE ENTER SUPERVISOR OVERRIDE AFTER DR. KENT REQUESTED SHUTDOWN.
He never submitted corrected version.
Instead he signed Hale’s clean copy.
Why keep draft?
Guilt.
Not heroism.
For nineteen years he kept proof while doing nothing.
Jack did not praise him for finally producing it.

Laura’s departure time was altered.
Then bureaucracy froze corrupted record.
Real Jack continued civilian life because his actual military and veterans records were never changed.
Only Red Valley compartment listed him dead.
That was why no family notification.
No death certificate.
No legal death.
No resurrection.
Ryan’s shock at gym had been based on narrow, false program record.
The faded insignia was unofficial instructor mark, not secret organization.
Ryan recognized it from incident materials.
Evan recognized from Luke’s research.
Mystery was almost complete.
But Hale still denied.
He claimed memory unreliable.
Said Michael’s draft fabricated.
Laura biased.
Samuel dead.
Mercer protecting himself.
Ryan score note ambiguous.
Then investigators found original control-room audio.
Not dramatic secret recording.
Routine safety system microphone archived with equipment telemetry.
Damaged file recovered from insurer backup.

Laura:
“Shut it down.”
Mercer:
“I’m calling legal.”
Hale:
“We finish the sequence.”
Unknown technician:
“Temperature warning.”
Hale:
“Override.”
Technician:
“I need Mercer authorization.”
Hale:
“Use his console.”
Then typing.
No one said Hale personally typed.
But next:
Laura:
“Victor, take your hand off that terminal.”
Silence.
Then Hale:
“Thirty seconds.”
Those thirty seconds changed everything.
Investigators could now determine consequences under applicable law and evidence.
Jack did not need decide sentence.
He needed truth.
Then Megan came to gym to meet father.
Blake had been formally suspended by gym and ordered no contact under interim protective arrangements after investigation into Megan’s allegations.
She stood on same blue mat where Blake mocked Jack.
“Are you going to fight him?” she asked.
“No.”
“Even after what he did?”
“Especially after.”
Megan looked surprised.
Jack said:
“I spent half my life teaching people that being able to hurt somebody isn't same as having right to.”
She hugged him.
Across room, Evan watched.
Then Ryan approached Jack.
“One thing.”
“What?”
“Your fifteen years training Marines.”
“Yes.”
“Was Red Valley biggest thing you ever did?”
Jack almost smiled.
“No.”
“What was?”
“Coming home.”
Ryan nodded.
No legendary biography needed.
But Jack still had one final Red Valley question.
Who sent his original badge to gym with note:
MICHAEL ARDEN DID NOT START THE FIRE. YOU DID.
Courier inquiry finally identified sender.
Not Hale.
Not Michael.
Not Mercer.
Not Laura.
Evan Brooks.
Jack stared at him.
“You sent it?”
Evan looked ashamed.
“Yes.”
“Why accuse me?”
“I needed you to keep digging.”
“You lied.”
“Yes.”
“Where did you get badge?”
“Luke had it.”
“How?”
“My brother found it in archive disposal box in 2019.”
“Why didn't you just give it to me?”
Evan looked down.
“Because I thought if I scared you, you'd care more.”
Jack’s disappointment was worse than anger.
“You learned exactly wrong lesson from everyone in this story.”
Evan swallowed.
Jack continued:
“You don't manufacture fear to make people seek truth.”
It was what Hale did.
What Martin? Different story, no. What people did. It was what Red Valley cover-up did in reverse.
Evan apologized.
Jack accepted evidence, not method.
And suddenly insignia mystery had one final irony:

It had survived because people kept turning symbols into weapons.
Jack was ready to end that.
