Why delete?
“Because I knew what it looked like.”
“It looked like Daniel told you stop shipment.”
“Yes.”
“Did he?”
“Yes.”
“Then why didn’t you?”
“Because second lab cleared most samples.”
“Most.”
Richard looked down.
He had made business judgment.
But instead of documenting disagreement with Daniel and asking board, he quietly changed status.
Because acquisition deadline.
Because compensation.
Because reputation.
Because he believed risk low.
That was central corporate misconduct.
Independent engineering review concluded:
No evidence 7C created immediate fleetwide danger.
But traceability and fatigue uncertainty required disclosure/inspection.
Richard’s suppression violated company policy and possibly regulatory obligations.
Board suspended him.
External authorities reviewed.
No Grandfather vigilante punishment.
Then Grandfather gave statement about punching Richard.
Richard did not press private complaint? Authorities still could assess. We need not resolve exact legal.
Grandfather said:
“I was holding Noah. I should have protected him by moving away.”
He did not excuse.

Then Michael accepted temporary advisory role only to assist technical review, reporting to independent committee—not reclaim company.
No instant inheritance/control.
Eleanor resigned any remaining family foundation positions.
Her contact with Noah remained supervised.

Then Noah asked to see airplane.
Grandfather showed repaired wing.
Noah traced inscription.
“What does it say?”
Grandfather read:
“D.H. — Fly higher than I did.”
“Who wrote it?”
“I did.”
“For Daddy?”
“Yes.”
“Did he fly?”
Grandfather smiled.
“Sometimes.”
Then Noah pointed at brass key.
“Can I keep it?”
Grandfather considered.
“No.”
Noah frowned.
“Why?”
“Because children shouldn’t have to carry adults’ secrets.”
Perfect payoff.
Key went into legal evidence archive.
Plane returned to Noah after documentation.
Its meaning changed:
not secret courier.
Family heirloom.
Then Eleanor wrote Noah letter.
Not sent until counselor approved.
She did not explain company scandal.
Only:
I hurt you because I was angry and afraid. That was my responsibility. You did nothing wrong by carrying the airplane or telling Grandpa what you knew.
Important.
Then Daniel’s H-27 computer yielded final compliance packet.
At bottom:
CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION — DRAFT COMPLETE.
Daniel had prepared full disclosure before death.
Had he signed?
Yes.
Scheduled send Monday morning.
Automation disabled after death because executive account locked.
Richard knew draft existed?
Email proved he did.
Thus Daniel’s final position unambiguous.
He wanted disclosure.
Richard chose narrower path.
Central technical mystery nearly resolved.
But why did Michael wait until maintenance failure in 2026?
Because he believed Eleanor’s claim issue resolved.
He never verified.
