Selena finally told truth.
At seventeen, she worked afternoons in father’s clinic.
Filing.
Cleaning equipment.
Moving study boxes.
One evening Victor asked her bring labeled vials from locked refrigerator.
She accidentally dropped tray.
One vial cracked.

She panicked.
Victor was in procedure.
She transferred remaining liquid into replacement sterile vial.
Did not tell him immediately.
When she finally confessed, Victor was furious.
Could transfer alter concentration?

Selena had spent eighteen years believing she caused his disability.

She never told Grant.
Victor told her symptoms were disease progression and her mistake likely irrelevant.
But he hid incident from study report to protect daughter.
There was actual cover-up.
Not intentional poisoning.
Negligence and fear.
Then Rachel discovered fingerprint and confronted Selena.
Selena admitted.
Rachel wanted tell Grant.
Selena begged for time.
Why didn't Rachel?
She investigated whether transfer actually caused decline.
Vincent tested retained residue years later.
Drug concentration within acceptable range.
Likely did not cause long-term paralysis.
So Selena’s guilt may have been misplaced.
Rachel chose not to accuse without evidence.
But she planned tell Grant because concealment itself mattered.

Selena remained silent.
Later she began relationship with Grant.
That was devastating.
“You knew all this and dated me?”
Selena cried.
“I loved you.”
Grant’s expression hardened.
“You entered my life carrying a secret about my body.”
“I thought it hadn't caused anything.”
“Then why hide it?”
“Because I knew you'd hate me.”

Self-protection.
Then Grant asked why she was frightened when he stood.
Because if he could stand, it meant long-term paralysis might never have been caused by permanent damage.
That reopened every buried question.
Her lie.
Victor’s lie.
Rachel’s investigation.
Then why move toward Emma with syringe?
Because Emma told Selena:
“Mom said this proves what you did to Dad.”
Emma had interpreted vial as proof Selena caused paralysis.
Selena panicked and tried to determine whether Emma had opened vial or touched liquid.
Cruel, irrational.
But logical fear.
Then Grant asked Emma why she smiled after he stood.
“Because she looked scared.”
Not full answer.
“Emma.”
The girl looked down.
“I knew something else.”
“What?”
She had watched one of Rachel’s videos before.
Which?
The one Grant hadn't reached.
Rachel told Emma:
If Dad ever moves his foot on purpose, don't tell Selena what you know about the blue vial.
Grant stared.
“What blue vial?”
Emma looked toward evidence.
