Chapter 9 - the bloodline exposed

The physical evidence of the forgery resting on the banquet table was the fatal blow to Vanessa’s corporate coup, but Adrian was not finished. The anger that had propelled him across the Atlantic demanded absolute, total destruction. As the guests stared in horrified fascination at the forensic report, Adrian reached into the inner pocket of his tailored tuxedo jacket. He withdrew the second dossier, the one he had retrieved from the hidden compartment in the antique globe, the one bearing the crest of the Swiss medical clinic.
"The forgery was a desperate, pathetic attempt to secure an empire you knew you had no legal right to," Adrian continued, his voice echoing like thunder in the silent hall. "You thought erasing Emma from the company ledgers would hide the truth. But Father knew exactly what you were doing. That is why he mandated a comprehensive, irrevocable DNA analysis of the entire bloodline before he died."
He threw the medical dossier onto the table, the heavy pages spilling open. "You called Emma a bastard tonight, Vanessa. But the genetic sequencing from the clinic tells a very different story. You are the product of our mother's affair with a disgraced corporate attorney twenty-five years ago. You possess absolutely zero Beaumont blood. You are a biological fraud, an interloper who has spent her entire life projecting her own illegitimacy onto the true, rightful heir."

The revelation hit the ballroom with the force of a kinetic strike. The silence broke into a chaotic explosion of gasps, panicked murmurs, and frantic whispering among the high-society elite. The ultimate, unspoken taboo of their aristocratic world had been laid bare under the blinding light of the crystal chandeliers.
Vanessa staggered backward, hitting the gold banquet chair behind her. Her breath came in short, jagged, hysterical gasps. The entitlement, the cruelty, the arrogant confidence that had defined her entire existence was completely obliterated in a matter of seconds. She looked around the room, seeing only judgment, disgust, and pity in the eyes of the billionaires and socialites she had desperately tried to rule. She looked at Evelyn, silently begging for mercy from the matriarch, but Evelyn’s pale-blue eyes remained as cold and unforgiving as a glacier.
