Chapter 8 - The Inheritance Clause

Ethan reached into the safe, pulling out the manila folder. Attached to the front was a handwritten letter addressed directly to him in his father’s harsh, rigid handwriting.
He opened the folder, revealing an updated amendment to the Carrington Family Trust, executed just seventy-two hours prior. As Ethan read through the legal language, his eyes darkened with a cold, calculating understanding.
Arthur Carrington had not simply been trying to punish Lily out of cruelty; he had been attempting to prove in a private family court that Ethan was an unfit guardian due to violent instability, using the staged video recording of Ethan’s inevitable retaliation to strip him of his parental rights. Under the terms of the amendment, if Ethan was declared unfit, the entire forty-billion-dollar Carrington trust would immediately pass to Damon and Claire as co-trustees.
They had used Lily as bait, knowing Ethan’s explosive temper would deliver the exact footage they needed to destroy him in court.
