Chapter 10 - The Dawn at Carrington Hall

By dawn, the Carrington estate was quiet once again. The storm had cleared, leaving behind a crisp, golden morning light that flooded through the tall glass windows of the grand living room.

The shattered glass from the crystal coffee table had been cleared away, the marble floor polished clean of any marks. Up on the second floor, Lily slept peacefully in her large canopy bed, wrapped in a soft woolen blanket, her breathing deep and undisturbed.

Downstairs in the library, Ethan sat behind the heavy mahogany desk, wearing a clean white shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his forearms. Standing across from him was the city's lead homicide detective and Ethan’s head of legal affairs, both reviewing the finalized arrest warrants for Arthur, Damon, and Claire Carrington.

“Arthur was picked up at the private airport in Teterboro an hour ago,” the detective reported, closing his notebook. “He had three passports and two million in cash in his briefcase. He won't be getting bail.”

Ethan nodded once, his expression unreadable as he signed the final affidavit on the desk before him. He stood up, walking toward the tall window overlooking the manicured gardens.

The empire his family had built on fear and control had finally crumbled, but as Ethan looked out at the bright morning sun warming the estate grounds, he knew the only thing that mattered was safe upstairs, sleeping without fear for the very first time.
