Chapter 6 - The Shadow in the Mirror

The security video on the phone screen flickered to life. On the recording, the third figure took a step back from Claire and Damon, turning slowly toward the camera angle. But before the face fully revealed itself on the small display, Ethan hit the lock button, blacking out the screen as he stood up with Lily in his arms.
He didn't need the phone to tell him who it was. The leather gloves worn by the figure on the screen bore a distinct gold family crest—a crest worn only by the patriarch of the Carrington estate: Ethan’s own father, Arthur Carrington.
Claire cowered among the broken glass on the floor, shivering as Ethan walked slowly toward her. His dark, polished shoes stepped over the shattered crystal, stopping just inches from her trembling hands.
“Get up,” Ethan commanded, his voice unnervingly calm.

“Ethan, please,” Claire sobbed, her aristocratic composure completely ruined as blood dripped from her lip onto her ivory dress. “Your father promised us everything... he said you were soft... he said Lily was weak—”
“My father is a dead man walking,” Ethan cut her off, his tone flat and absolute. “And you have five minutes to tell me where he took the rest of the trust documents before I let the police into this room.”
