Then Emma asked:
“Who was the person you looked at when I opened photograph?”
Jonathan.
“Why did you smile?”
Eleanor frowned.

Emma asked:
“Why did Jonathan scare you more than photograph?”
Because Jonathan possessed his father’s trust ring and could authenticate gold seal. Without him, Eleanor could dismiss envelope publicly as fake.
When glass dropped, she knew independent custodian recognized it.
That was moment she realized secret could no longer be contained.

Then Jonathan found his father’s final memorandum.
Martin admitted accepting forged Grace waiver.
He also wrote:
ELEANOR DID NOT ORDER IT.
WILLIAM DID.

Then final paragraph:
CHARLES’S SECOND ENVELOPE CONTAINS THE NAME OF THE PERSON BEATRICE CHOSE AFTER GRACE.
But Emma had opened second envelope.
No name.
Unless hidden.
Gold seal itself.
Lab scanned metal insert.
Microscopic inscription:
