But Sophie-specific page had been inserted afterward.

Eleanor.

And Claire herself.
Victor began to understand why Claire did not simply come home accusing Eleanor.

Not enough to explain elaborate fake deaths.
Then Michael’s old audit notes surfaced.

“No one originally planned to fake it.”

Someone had entered death deliberately, yes.
But possibly to remove Claire from active patient system and transfer her secretly.

Victor confronted Eleanor.
She stopped denying.
“I did it.”
Silence.
“You declared Claire dead?”
“I changed status.”
“Why?”
“Because she asked me to.”
Victor stared.
Claire had feared second unauthorized medication dose.
Michael had appeared.
Anna offered escape.
Claire needed active medical record closed temporarily so tracking system would stop generating location and treatment alerts accessible to program contractors.
Eleanor used badge.
She believed status would be corrected next morning.
It never was.
“Why?”
“Claire disappeared before we could correct it.”
“And body I buried?”
Eleanor began crying.
“I didn't know until funeral.”
