Chapter 7 - The Woman I Never Understood

By nightfall, I still had no idea where Sarah and Ethan were.

But I understood something I should have learned long before it was too late.

Sarah had never been fragile.

She had never been naive.

She had never been as blind as I needed her to be.

For months, maybe longer, she had been living beside me while knowing exactly what I was doing. Feeding our son. Folding laundry. Smiling at dinner. Letting me believe I was still safe inside the lie I had built.

All while quietly preparing to destroy my access to the only two people who mattered.

My wife had not disappeared in weakness.

She had vanished in control.

And the most frightening part wasn’t that she took Ethan.

It was that she left behind no panic, no chaos, no trail that wasn’t intentional.

Only the ring.

The empty crib.

The voicemail.

And the terrifying knowledge that while I was busy betraying her in secret, she had already stopped being my wife.

She had become my reckoning.

And by the time I finally saw it…

she was already gone.

Cliffhanger: Richard now knows Sarah planned everything—but finding her may force him to face secrets she uncovered that are even more dangerous than the affair itself.
