Caleb had fed Carol the video.
Caleb fed me parts of the crash story.
Caleb gave Harper's guilt to me.
Caleb exposed Wade gradually.
Why?
Remove Cain power.
Expose public officials.
Force Mom to move the trust.
Then intercept it.
Elegant.
Almost.
He forgot Mom had raised me.
She taught me never to carry all the eggs in one basket.
The $41 million wasn't in one account.

And an unnamed protector.
“Who?”

“Carol.”

“You're believing Evelyn again.”
“She told me about the trust.”
Silence.

“No.”
He laughed.
“Partly.”
The original $3 million came from diverted contract funds.
But most growth didn't come from investing.
Additional deposits had entered for years.

Why would Wade fund a trust that could destroy him?
Caleb sent records.

Sheriff Harper formally confessed and resigned.
Travis was charged in connection with Mom's assault.

Then Senator Calvin Cain appeared on television.
He announced he would voluntarily provide all financial records.
No fear.
No hesitation.
At the press conference, he said:
“My family has been threatened for years by a private extortion scheme run through Turner Family Market.”
Mom looked at me.
“He knows.”
“About the trust?”
“No.”
She went pale.
“About the original account.”
“What original account?”
The $3 million Mom moved in 1994 wasn't the first Green River account.
