The answer came from sealed court records released to authorized counsel.
Nora’s mother had lied about one critical detail.
She was not fleeing Nora’s biological father.
The protective order was against her boyfriend, Calvin Price.
Nora’s biological father was a different man.
He had not seen Nora for four years.
He had recently learned she existed.
The mother feared he would seek custody while her life was unstable.
She asked foundation to keep him away.

Why anonymous?
He did not want child growing up believing education came from victim of mother’s theft.

That explained deposits.

No secret billionaire father.
No inheritance scheme.
Just adults trying to separate child from parent’s mistakes.
Then why had Anna kept investigating?
Because Nora’s mother told her something shortly before Anna died:
“The money isn’t why Richard hid Room Eleven.”
Anna wrote:
She insists another child was brought to Haven House same week without any emergency form.
Another child.
Not Nora.
This reopened Sophie’s original words.
She had said:
“I heard a girl crying behind Room Eleven.”
Nora was in Room Eleven.
So Sophie was right.
But mother claimed another child too.

Anna’s note:
Nora says she was not alone every night.
