Chapter 7 - The Weekend Eleanor Never Took
The first suspicious refill corresponded to a weekend in Lake Geneva.
Julian had taken the twins to a rented cabin.
Eleanor Mercer had remained in assisted living.
Caroline was already gone.

Then another to his mother Eleanor:
Mom, Caroline is trying to dismantle everything Dad helped me build.
Eleanor:
Then talk to her. She owns part.

Eleanor had not blindly supported son.
Then Julian:
You always side with her.
Perhaps motive to manipulate mother too.
Then investigators found erased voice memo on Eleanor’s old phone.
Caroline and Eleanor speaking six weeks before disappearance.
Eleanor:
If he gives me those pills again, I’m telling doctor myself.
Caroline:
I already photographed bottle.
Eleanor:
He says I’m confused.
Caroline:
You are not confused.
Then Eleanor:
He told me you’re trying to take girls.
Caroline:
I’m trying to leave him.
Eleanor:
Take me with you.

This transformed family relationships.
Caroline had not been alone.
Eleanor had wanted out of son’s control too.
Then why didn’t Eleanor help after Caroline vanished?
Because within weeks Eleanor had her worst hospitalization for confusion.
Soon after, she moved to assisted living chosen by Julian.

Contact with Caroline gone.

All outgoing calls involving Caroline Reed should be documented and redirected to Julian.
Improper perhaps; they followed because he was POA.
Eleanor had tried calling Caroline twice.
