The RYAN — LEVERAGE folder was less dramatic than Ava feared.
That made it more dangerous.
Malcolm had not fabricated a murder.

He repaid it.
Malcolm’s copy stopped at disbursement.

He was removing endings.

But knowingly misleading through selective documents could be another issue.

Claire useful because Ryan won’t move against her publicly.

“Yes.”

“No.”
“Do you believe me?”
“I believe evidence.”
That answer hurt Claire.
It was fair.
Then Claire said Malcolm sometimes referred to Ava as “the last Vance key.” Wait family is Rollins/Hayes Global. Better "the last clean key."
“He said you were the clean key to Hayes Global.”
Meaning?
“Ryan had too many outside businesses. Your father trusted you. You had board credibility. Malcolm said if he could keep you focused and dependent on him, he wouldn’t need to control the company directly.”
There.
Not classic takeover.
Influence.
A spouse positioned beside controlling family member.
Then:
“He said children would change your loyalties.”
Ava’s eyes filled.
“Toward my own children?”
“Yes.”
That was why motherhood threatened him.
Not because babies stole time only.
Because children create new obligations Malcolm could not mediate.
Then Sarah’s investigators found another medical payment.
Northstar paid $75,000 to a private research foundation affiliated with the clinic six months before Ava’s procedure.
Legitimate donation?
The foundation funded a trial involving an ablation device manufacturer.
Dr. Voss served as investigator.
Conflict?
Potential.
But no proof donation purchased Ava’s procedure.
The medical board investigated.

Malcolm used Arthur’s dormant entity to purchase shares in a private hospitality analytics startup.
Why?
The startup, Meridian Lens, was building predictive software using hotel pricing data.
Stolen Hayes Global data could improve model.
Malcolm planned to own equity secretly.
Corporate theft for a future competitor.
There it was.
The darker architecture.
Not just stealing cash.
Building a company using Hayes Global’s information.
Then Meridian Lens founder, Leah Morgan, was interviewed.
She said Malcolm presented data as licensed market intelligence.
She had no idea it came from Hayes Global.
Emails supported some of that.
She became witness, not villain.

Malcolm knew source.
Claire did not.
Leah likely did not.

Then Ava finally understood why Malcolm wanted her away from daily operations.
